G -#230kw - You would need some muscles to use this old 19th century cast iron flat iron or sad iron that was a necessity during that time period for pressing the laundry. This old wash day piece would have been heated on a burner & then used while hot to get the wrinkles out of their garments. This one has a chunky handle with a nice size hand hold, that was designed to make it easy to use. There are no markings on this flat iron other than the embossed #7 on the top - I'm pretty sure this meant the weight. This particular iron has old gold paint on the base that someone added long ago. This is a very nice antique piece that is essential to all antique laundry displays. They make great book ends and door stops as well & come in handy as a weight when you need to apply pressure to any project that requires gluing etc. Sale is for the sad iron ONLY & NOT the small washboard shown in one photo.
